Indian River Trail Report:
DATE:   Thursday, 3-4-10, 9:30 am
BASE:   0-2"
PAST 24 Hrs:   Warmer and sunshine
CONDITION:   Mostly poor-some scattered fair areas in the woods

Thought I'd check in to confirm what you probably already suspect--conditions continue to deteriorate due to weather. We still have large snow piles, humps, and lumps of snow all around. Most yards are still covered in a few crusty inches of snow. But this is "untouched" snow, unlike what we've had on our trails. Mornings have been pretty cold but sunshine is bringing us up in the high 30's by afternoon. Yesterday Wildwood Road was half ice and half frozen gravel, but within 6 hours I traveled it again and it was a mud bog. The trails are getting muddy and wet. One of our guys had the tractor on the railroad grade Tuesday night (testing a repair made) and groomed all the way to about Wolverine. But south of Trowbridge Road (the expressway overpass) things turn to gravel. Areas of fair riding are little stretches where tree cover shades the trails. We may have seen our last hurrah of the season already, but I wouldn't put the sled away just yet. Everyone knows we'll get slammed with another big snow before it's all over! When that time comes, I'll keep you informed!
